Women’s Health in Miami

Students will learn about management of primary family patients with acute and chronic diseases. They will also learn about giving correct diagnosis and evaluating patient diagnostics and lab results, as well as the continued care, and the transactional skills needed to keep electronic medical records.

Geriatrics in Hialeah

LTC and gerontology facility. High patient volume with multiple acute diseases and afflictions. Students will see and perform palliative care, skilled nursing and therapy services. Also IV fluids, IV antibiotics, and acute and chronic disease management for transitioning care patients. According to the preceptor, everything from diabetes to bed-restricted bone diseases will be viewed daily in the clinic.

Student-friendly and bilingual internal medicine practice with consecutive days available. High-demand area. Students will do wellness visits, episodic visits, women wellness exams (pap smear, vaginal swab, pelvic exam), and small office procedures such as wound care, suture removal, and ear lavage, etc.

The clinic is a full-service office where the staff also conduct EKGs, blood panels, and vaccinations, according to the preceptor.

Bilingual clinic with high patient volume. Adult patients, Women’s Health, pap smears, etc. Their focus is preemptive healthcare to avoid procedures or pharmaceutical prescriptions. The women’s health side of the practice sees many vaginal examinations, thyroid and menstrual irregularity, and reproductive education. There are a few geriatric patients that come in for hearing tests, annual physicals, and small minor specific procedures.

Geriatrics in Gainesville

Endocrinology in Jacksonville

Endocrinology setting where students will learn the management of diabetes, thyroid disease, hypertension, and lipids. General endocrinology training.

Preceptor has two offices. One downtown Jacksonville, one at Jacksonville Beaches office (Mondays only). Upon request, the preceptor can arrange some inpatient hours on weekends.

Dermatology in Plant City

The preceptor diagnoses and treats everything ranging from rashes and acne to skin cancers. They manage high-risk medications such as biologics and accutane. They also do cosmetics, including botox and fillers, and they do biopsies to detect a lot of skin cancers (students will learn to discern between various lesions).

The preceptor will help teach common differentials and diagnoses, as well as medications used. After spending more time together, students will be allowed to assess patients and help with evaluation, freeze benign lesions (liquid nitrogen), and perform shave and punch biopsies.

Psychiatry in Panama City

Community mental health adult population with high incidence of unemployed and public assistance patients (often with physical comorbidities) and serious mental illnesses including dual diagnoses.

The preceptor does psychiatric evaluations and medication management on individuals of all ages including adolescents and geriatric clients. These include postpartum depression, physical and mental depression symptoms, illegal substance abuse problem engagement as well as multiple mental stability symptoms.

Adult urgent care facility with walk-ins included. The clinic handles physicals, flu shots, cold and flu assessments, throat infections, minor repository issues and malfunctions, headaches and migraines, minor women’s health exams such as pap smears, mammograms, and STI vaginal testing.

Women’s Health in Coral Gables

Bilingual clinic located near public transportation. According to the preceptor, the student will be expected to undergo training and help with the assessment of different illnesses, as well as be prepared to handle a number of situations.

These include (but are not limited to): reproductive medicine for men and women, general healthcare services (supervised by physician), reproductive hormone disorders, gynecological ultrasounds and other tests, identifying risk factors in pregnancies, reviewing laboratory and imaging results, and assisting on a wide variety of procedures performed by the preceptor.

This clinic deals with complex structural heart and interventional cardiology patients in an inpatient and outpatient setting. The preceptor will provide education on electrophysiology and general cardiology topics, and they are able to cross-rotate with other members of the cardiology practice that they are a part of.
