Neurology and Geriatrics in Nashville

This clinic is focused on general neurology and movement disorders, like Parkinson’s Disease. There is an overlap with primary care given that many patients need help with issues regarding blood pressure, medication management and “psych concerns,” according to the preceptor. Primary care skills are required because of these and other comorbidities. The clinic offers consecutive days for traveling students and is located near public transportation. Patients are primarily geriatric, though the clinic serves patients aged 21 and up.

Work schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday (7:30 am – 3:00 pm) / Wednesday, Friday (7:30 am – 11:30 am)

Primary Care (adult only) in Nashville

Urgent care clinic working as a primary care site for United Healthcare patients. The clinic treats acute and chronic health conditions so the preceptor notes that this rotation can fulfill primary care and urgent care requirements. Weekends and evening hours available, as well as consecutive days for traveling students.

Work schedule: Monday, Tuesday (7:00 am – 7:00 pm) / Wednesday – Friday (9:00 am – 7:00 pm) / Saturday (9:00 am – 5:00 pm) / Sunday (1:00 pm – 5:00 pm)

Primary Care (all ages) in Lafayette

This clinic is a primary care facility and a nursing home. The clinic sees both children and adults and performs diagnoses, prescriptions, check-ups, orders lab tests, does consultation, and also referrals in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The preceptor will provide patient education including disease prevention and health promotion (along with medication management and usage). The clinic offers consecutive days for traveling students.

Work schedule: Tuesday – Friday (9:00 am – 5:00 pm) / Saturday (9:00 am – 4:00 pm)

Psychiatry/Mental Health and Primary Care in Dyersburg

This clinic sees patients with a wide range of mental health issues and age ranges. The preceptor notes that students will become very familiar with the DSM-5, and warns that they should be always mindful of HIPAA rules when discussing clients and their PHI, even within the clinic.

Work schedule: Monday – Friday (8:00 am – 4:30 pm)
