What's required to get started, and how much is the initial deposit?
Getting started is simple and designed to be student-friendly.
Here's the process:
Step 1: Find Your Perfect Match
Browse 2,400+ verified, active preceptors across 45+ states and 10+ specialties.
Step 2: Create Your Free Account
See your total rotation cost and deposit amount instantly.
Step 3: Pay Your 15% Deposit
A small 15% deposit secures your placement and begins the paperwork process.
- Example: If your total cost is $2,000, your deposit is just $300. The remaining balance can be paid over 12 months.
What the deposit covers:
- Preceptor coordination and onboarding
- Document collection (resumes, licenses, certifications)
- Paperwork preparation tailored to your school
- Ongoing support from your Student Coordinator
Plus, your deposit is protected: If your preceptor doesn't accept within 10 business days or doesn't complete paperwork within 10 business days, you get your deposit back.
How long does the entire process typically take, from deposit to starting my rotation?
Most students complete the NPHub side in 2-3 weeks. The rest depends on your school's approval timeline.
Phase 1: NPHub Handles the Heavy Lifting (2-3 weeks)
- Preceptor accepts and completes NPHub's student paperwork
- We collect all documentation (licenses, certifications, malpractice insurance)
- We prepare your complete paperwork package
Phase 2: You Submit to Your School (Timeline Varies)
- Download the complete package from your NPHub account
- Submit to your school's clinical coordinator
- Wait for school approval
Do I need to handle the paperwork with my preceptors and school?
No, we handle all the heavy lifting! You just download and submit.

How does NPHub work?
NPHub is a clinical placement service that matches nurse practitioner students with vetted preceptors and manages the paperwork, credentialing, and school approvals from start to finish. The process runs in six tracked steps: you submit a rotation request, a matched preceptor reviews and accepts it, NPHub collects and prepares your school's paperwork, you pay a 15% deposit and download your documents, your university approves the placement, and you begin your rotation. Most students finish the NPHub side in 2 to 3 weeks, with the remaining timeline set by your school's approval process. As of August 2026, NPHub has completed 14,251 rotations for 9,249 students across 45 states.
How much does a clinical rotation through NPHub cost?
NPHub pricing is based on the clinical hours your rotation requires, starting at a rate of $12.75 per hour, so a 160-hour rotation comes to $2,040. You reserve your placement with a 15% deposit and can spread the remaining balance over 3 or 12 months at no added cost. Your total price and deposit are shown upfront when you create a free account, before you commit. For a full breakdown by specialty and hour count, see the NPHub pricing page.
How does NPHub find and vet its preceptors?
Every preceptor in the NPHub network is verified before a student is matched. NPHub confirms each preceptor's active license, board certification, and specialty focus, then reviews their clinical setting and availability against your school's requirements. Preceptors apply to join, and NPHub accepts a small share of them: 2,435 preceptors from 18,314 applicants, a 13.3% acceptance rate as of August 2026. When you submit a request, NPHub matches you with a preceptor who fits your specialty, location, and program rules, rather than leaving you to cold-contact providers on your own.
